How did/do YOU get over someone you still love?

I never did. I'll always love her, but I realised that it doesn't stop me from loving someone else.

I just got busy living my life. I took all that angst and funneled it in to better my life. I was too busy to think about him. Every night I would drop exhausted into my bed. One day led into another and then it was a week, then a month, then a year. Every day, I got used to living without him and started making new memories.

Time 🕣 and keeping busy!

Even though he's not alive anymore, I'll never stop loving him.

I don't ever talk about him or this at all. But last night I talked about I here and I can't stop thinking about it.
I think I was in love with him. Like soul mate love. I didn't deal with it in a good way when things went downhill. I slit my wrists a lot and ate my feelings away. I cried myself countless nights to sleep. I'm not over him to this day, which would explain why I act like he never even existed in the first place.

I cry till I don't feel like crying anymore. It usually takes about a year.

You may never completely get over them, just learn to go forward

I had to constantly remind myself that any feelings I still had for him were burning up my emotions for nothing. He had moved on with someone else, I wasn't even in one single brain cell of his any more.

He dumped me for the second time over text, after spending the week he’d stayed with me playing video games on his laptop. I just kind of woke up feeling over him the next morning.

just realized they weren't part of my present any longer so I just kept focusing in other things and dreams and freed myself from him.

honestly it’s been almost 6 years. i am married. im still not really over someone from my past. i found a unicorn and let him get away.

It is more an acceptance of what you once had. Missing them is natural, feelings don't just switch off because you tell them to. In the immediate aftermath keep busy, find your good friends and get them to take you out for pizza (and non alcoholic) beers.

Let it bring you down for months, then just get tired of feeling that way and refuse to accept it
