Argentina vrs France chat.

Great game. I am meeting with a group of engineers Monday morning. 2/3 from Argentina and 1/3 from France. If the conversation doesn't go the way I want, I think I may casually drop in a comment, here or there :-)

@Northwest A lot of French people don't care much about football. Almost all Argentines care about it deeply. Their pundits had a minutes silence after their defeat to Croatia.

Argentina have improved since their fist game because they have a more balanced system which suits their players.

They have skill too but are an old, slow team. France have so much more pace and power. Their pressing game stopped Argentina playing until Deschamps ultra Conservatism forced them to abandon it.

I still think France will win this though. Mbappe and Griezman are too good.

A lot depends on Rodriguez. It will be a close game if he is fit and firing. If not, England are heavy favourites.

I don't understand penalty kicks.

Teams work and work to get a goal and then get handed a goal on a penalty kick.

The punishment seems to vastly outweigh the crime.

I think France will win. Neither team is playing well but there is a gulf in athleticism.

@Burnley123 Agreed. And it's not just the lack of athleticism that is hampering Argentina. They have one player of international quality, Lionel Messi, and nobody to feed him the ball.
