I'm not sure if I am fully understanding your question, but a picture tends to draw more attention but not always the kind you want. I find when I used to post on other sites without a photo people didn't want to read as much. The visual is often a bigger draw unfortunately.

Unfortunately anything “on line” is not the best forum for divulging ones feelings or looks...It’s literally like standing naked in a crowd of strangers. Some people will scoff or laugh, some will praise you, some will do the same...you just take your chances and hope for some like mindedness or maybe even some empathy!
