I Accept People As They Are

I accept people as they are...doesn't mean I have to like their actions.

I'm currently staying with family who I see about 2 times a year. I love them. I truly do. But more and more I feel myself drifting further from the pack, which is a little alarming for me as I already feel separated from the rest of my family who are local to me.

I have always felt different, and being the middle child in a very large family I am, in a sense like an island. Siblings are paired up above and below me, but I stand alone.

This trip I have see a lot of things that make me feel uncomfortable. Attitudes, values, behaviours. I realise it's me that's changing, but I can't ignore how further adrift I feel.

I accept my family in all their conservative restraints, but I am extremely saddened when I see people hating/rejecting/judging what they don't understand.

I pray to God to keep my eyes open, to continue to embrace diversity and to practice inclusion...and to love all, including what I don't understand.

You have a really great attitude. I try and do this with my family as well who are similar to what you describe.

I try to keep in mind that the only person that I need to work on is myself it weirdly helps to takes the frustration away that they are not different people

Sometimes standing for what is right....also can mean largely standing alone.

What can we do: we don't chose our parents and they in turn didn't choose their families... Oh well
