Call me lazy but I end up using shortcuts very often and it does work for me, but I have observed that some people make you feel really guilty about it, and that makes me feel so conflicted lol

It's called smart work. If it includes all the precautions, and nothing is at stake, why not!! That's why there's automation to get rid of boring repetitive things and give people exciting things to do. You just have to save the effort and time and not burn yourself out. If it works for you, it's great. Those who say shortcuts are dangerous, maybe it's their approach that doesn't work. I don't see them as shortcuts, but evolution of human intelligence to do things more effectively to meet the demand of the population with time. We fly over the oceans, we don't sail like ancient days. Some may say it's a shortcut, but it's far safer an effective than sailing.

@SW-User That’s a good example, well explained

It really depends on what's conventional and what's the shortcut. What might be considered lazy and what others try to guilt-trip you for could actually be something quite clever and efficient and you've simply found a way to be one step ahead of everyone else.

Prepare to be bored by higher reasoning.

Sometimes it's not and other times it will be an imperative.

All actions in an industry must take cost, quality and time of obtainability into account.

There will be times when it can be cheaper and higher quality to use creative solutions and there will be times when it costs much and yeilds only a stopgap solution but meets a deadline and preserves important patronage.

There are several equations nested in my business/workforce/asset management process. A quality/cost/reliability reasoning and a profit/scope/growth projection.

In a perfect situation there are no limits of time and investables but as we all know the world cannot be made perfect. That wouldn't be any fun anyway. Lol
The only thing I know for sure about shortcuts is that in one out of ten, the shortcut ends in an incomprehensible detour.

What was your detour?
Too many to name. I'm a shortcut fan myself.@SW-User

Control A, control C, and control V are some of the best shortcuts I have in my life!

Don’t let anyone tell you right clicking is better!

Last I check that's just being efficient. If you can do something just as effectively with less work/less time...why not?!
MethDozer · M
@5thApprentice Well sometimes shortcuts work 90% of the time but when they don't it's catastrophic while the long way might only cause slight hiccup if done improperly. So there's that.
5thApprentice · 31-35, M
@MethDozer That too and for some things there are no shortcuts (or better not using any).
JonathanC · 61-69, M
It depends. If you're my surgeon, I don't want you taking shortcuts.

If it's in academics, absolutely. L
MethDozer · M
Yes, if you can truly get the same results repeatedly it is fine. Yet you shouldn't rely on them.
MethDozer · M
@SW-User What kind of work if not to much to ask?
SW-User
@MethDozer Lol just academic or anything really, I just don’t feel like working hard unless it’s absolutely required
MethDozer · M
@SW-User Oh pfffft Shortcut away then.
