Blue ice bergs are usually the result of highly compressed ice from a glacier forming a very compressed mass. Similar to if you tried to look through a very thick piece of glass is would appear green or blue.

Ice is only white because our eyes cannot sense every color at once. When ice is in deep water, like the ocean, our eyes decipher the blue in the ice-berg instead of the white.
