What do you wish you never knew?

I agree.

More than bugs. I found a mouse in mine once. Wonder how much mouse poop was in the cereal before I realized mice were snacking in my pantry.

Cereals like oatmeal, which haven't been turned into clumps of sugar held together by some kind of grain, come with bugs waiting to hatch I think. I have bought oatmeal, planning to make apple crisp. Forgot I had it and bought another bag. Months later, when I discovered the bag shoved away behind a bunch of canned goods, it was full of bugs. A completely intact, unopened, undamaged bag. I took it back to the grocery store and they said it must be an old bag.

So I looked it up. Here's just a little of what I found. I now buy from a bulk food store. Just as much as I need for my recipe. Not a problem for me because I don't eat cereals I only use it for baking. I even buy my flour from the bulk foods. And rice. Lucky for me, I live close enough to walk there. And I can see if it's wiggling before I buy it. And I use it the same day.
