Is blind hatred a choice why/why not?

I think it is, but am interested to hear what you think.

Coppercicada has the best insights into this. Personally I think it is part of the human capacity to delude itself. When confronted by cognitive dissonance we tend to double down on our incorrect belief. In the case of blind hatred it is usually group fostered. An element of truth is taken and used as the basis to create a whole ideology of blame against a certain group. For example, feminists are to blame for the destruction of Western society. This allows the person to blame outside influences for failures within their personal life. Within the group reasoned debate is discouraged. At some point it becomes similar to a mental illness. The person is effectively brainwashed. It seems to me the question of whether or not they have choice is about whether or not they can be blamed. I would say that regardless - blind hate leads to misery for that person. In our age though it is common to dismiss people who have different views from you as being "full of hate." In that context it is worth noting that this accusation was levelled at Ghandi, abolitionists, suffragettes and that Jesus was crucified for challenging the status quo

it is people chose to hate.. and to hate for no reason or even to hold onto grudges. all you have to be is different and youre hated. all you have to have is a difference of opinion and your hated.. all you have to be is look different and your hated.. all you have to do is do one stupid thing and your hated. hate is filled in our society.

No patience for patently absurd two-word clichet. Such things really are too rare to exist, even if they do in the slightest. People can be intimidated, coerced, even lied to. Still that's no good reason to hate people you never even met. Only insane people reason that way.

Yep, fear and ignorance that can be unlearned if one chooses.
