One of my German ancestors founded a Lutheran church in rural Virginia in 1765 and fought directly under Washington in the Revolutionary War. The church is still active and knowing that my family helped shaped the US from the early colonial days makes me proud.

Wow. My grand grandfather was a soldier in WW2 and got shot in his ear but he survived, my grand father used to box, my mother was a singer and she had a band with her sister, my fathers grandfather and grandmother were jews and went to another country and change their names and hide.
