Animal People
My thoughts here are very simple and pretty straightforward. A little kitten or puppy , abandoned and left to starve is a sad sight for anyone with half a heart. A wounded Deer , beyond all help , trapped in barb wire , should be humanely ended. A snake shouldn’t be killed solely for being a snake. Animal people just usually have good hearts and are well rounded. Am I saying rescue every critter you lay hands on , don’t hunt , or let a snake have the road and bite you? Of course not. But compassion toward animals , and a desire to accept and understand nature means you have a truly human side. Sadly , in this world , there are people , who have no desire to ever touch an animal , let alone care for one. Those that would casually make remarks like “ We’d be better off if they were all dead.” Those are the folks who shouldn’t be trusted in my opinion. They have little heart , let alone soul and are very callous people. If even a battle hardened Soldier in a Combat environment , or a criminal behind bars , can bond with a puppy or kitten and form a genuine friendship , but these folks cant ..what does that tell you about them? Will they be the next Axe Murderer? Probably not , however they have limited capacity for tenderness , and aren’t my choice to trust long term. If they turn their back to a starving defenseless puppy …how easy is it to do the same to you?

All living things deserve respect. And with that respect comes basic rights like not being tortured to death.
I find it ironic that Jesus freaks think that animals that their sky fairy gave them dominion and responsibility over don't deserve basic decency.
I feel similarly about plants.

Animals that have rights? if anything nobody has rights. Humans are smart enough to make laws and for animals they aren't smart enough to ask for rights
