What does gift giving mean to you?

I've been thinking about this a bit since my birthday two days ago, and realised that I liked giving and getting gifts because to me it means "You mean a lot to me".

Bought gifts don't mean as much if that person isn't around (nothing is more precious than time tbh :) )

I would have thought it would mean bringing others enlightenment, since the gift would be butt secks :?
