Alright let's end this conversation by taking money out of educational funds, environmental protection funds, and medical funds, and just build a wall around this convo.

@NFS1235: Let's put everyone in charge of an agency that he (never she) wants to abolish. Let's left regulations on the drug companies to inspire them to lower their prices, just out of the goodness of their sweet, sweet hearts. Let's write a healthcare bill that takes four million MORE people off of insurance than simply repealing Obamacare. Etc.
@Contagious: Hence the quotes. Doesn't mean it's inaccurate.

did you know that 8/3 of people have trouble with fractions?
goliathtree · 56-60, M
evidently fractions and sarcasm.
NFS1235 · 18-21, M
I'm only about 2/1 sure about the meaning of what you just said ...
goliathtree · 56-60, M
I am pretty sure I meant 5/4ths of it.
NFS1235 · 18-21, M
WHAT? This doesn't make sense ... how can half of Americans make less than the median income? I don't get it.
Newandimproved · 61-69, M
isn't that the definition?
33person · 26-30, M
Yes.

Thanks free trade

I hate to say this, but... it is impossible to have a set of data where half the data are not below the median.

Wow. Astonishing statistic.

That's Fucking shocking!!!!!!' 💅🏻

It's only possible that exactly half of America's population receives less than the median income if there are exactly as many unemployed people as people who make the exact median income.

you should look up the various methods of calculating averages. specifically the mean, the median, and the mode.

The 62 richest people have more wealth than the poorest 3.7 billion people. That's pretty mind-blowing.

Now consider that in some systems that means that those families regularly provide millions of dollars to hundreds of their relatives to live in luxury and basically do nothing or whatever pursuits they want.

That's how it's always been in Kindgdoms and Dictarships. That's why the founding fathers decided that a republic, on based on capitalism could work better.

And it has. America went from the poorest country in the world 400 years ago to the most self aware, tech advanced, and progressive one by 1950. Sure it has flaws. Sometimes the reps and the judges and the exec think they are the bosses.

They aren't. They're just the appointed heads of a three branched system. These are subject to being pruned as the rebranches are growing in. The populous has the representation. Never doubt that people power doesn't exist at the ballot box. The system works.

I agree to a point. I believe in a mixed economy. America, even and especially at its most successful times, had some social programs and a substantial income tax. Some hardcore capitalists would support austerity in times of recession, but I don't know of any time when that has helped. I definitely vote, though, because the massive numbers of young people who do not vote can only result in a severely underrepresented younger generation.
