Kindness.
Try and instill the idea that life is hard but people can make it bearable.
Kindness is so underrated i find.

Lots of love and setting firm limits. Children grow up to resent parents that do not set limits that allow them to get in trouble and not prepare for the future. Children need to feel safe and secure in their parents love.
