When your girlfriend (now ex) says this, what does it mean?

'Maybe this isn't going to work. Maybe we should tale some time to figure things out. Maybe I shouldn't have gotten into a relationship with you soon after my last one'

I took it to mean she was breaking up with me. And she hasn't had time for me for like two weeks now and had been showing disinterest in me. She had also said before that some guys had been showing interest I'm her, but she could've, but just chose not to leave me. So with all that, I told her ok, its over. And broke up with her. And then at first she said she "didn't mean we should've broken up". But then just a few minutes after, said " there is nothing she can do since I've told her its over so goodbye"

Was I right to end things?

(We dated for 3-4 months and she's my first ever girlfriend)

When someone starts a conversation with "Maybe this isn't going to work..." to not end things is basically waiting for the other shoe to drop, until [b]they[/b] finally gather the courage to break up, with a lot of uncertainty in the meantime. What you did made perfect sense and likely saved you some heartache.

@rickfreeman15: I'm so sorry, I get that it hurts now. But it sounds like you did the right thing, rather then continuing with someone who doesn't seem to know what she wants. And no one who's not playing games brings up the interest of other fellows as basically a veiled threat if you don't do what she wants.
