Melting Phones

So the Galaxy Note 7 has a serious design flaw which, in the best case scenario, causes it to melt apart from the inside-out.
Firstly, how the hell are we allowing this kind of tech out to the public when it might RANDOMLY MELT IN YOUR HAND?
Secondly, Verizon have said they'll announce the reason on Monday. I hate to sound stupid here, even though I am sometimes, but why Monday? This is a serious issue, why are they being given time to prepare an excuse? Politicians are given days at best to come up with an excuse for all the shady things they pull, and they're always criticised for that. So why is a corporation that handed out a product so faulty it can be classed as a deadly weapon being given TIME TO PREPARE AN EXCUSE?
Verizon, answer us now or face the death of your company. I'm pretty sure your stock is going to plummet after this.
