Are you self aware of when you're using relative privation? How does it affect you?

For example do you find solace or perhaps guilt in the fact that you likely live an easier less dangerous life than most humans that have existed even if at times you feel as though your life is awful? Or Perhaps you consider how others have lived and are living is irrelevant. That's just one example of it though.

Not sure I fully understand your question. I didn't even know privation was a word. From seeing your comment below it makes a bit more sense

I think I compare myself to others around me, but not too narrowly. Suppose I want to be rich, I wouldn't think of Bill Gates but I wouldn't think of the poorest people I know either. That way my goals are achievable but still above me

basically like comparing yourself to others. Do you compare yourself to the people around you or do you compare yourself to [i]everyone[/i] and how does that affect you? Like would you call yourself good at something because you are better than the people around you or because you are better than the average person at it? To use another example.

@mic11225: I only compare myself to others when it comes to my profession in graphic design you kinda always need to be the best or close to it.
