Have you ever had an online relationship

Have you ever had an online relationship and then found out he/she was not who they said they are.
polyandrym66 · 70-79, M
My online r'ship turned into a face to face long distance r'ship for 2 yrs. I finally convinced her to quit her job and retire with me.
She is now my live in GF and we are very happy together..

Yes. 3 years later and a million phone conversations and 500 gazillion texts...yes....he was not nice in the end.

@Keepitsimple oh wow!! Really
SW-User
no, anyone i've gotten involved with online proved that they were who they said they were beforehand.
He was actually a She..

Annoying fake people. Ugh
mine was 50 years old but turned out to be 19
Badseed · 61-69, M
@nevergiveup: You mean they were really 19 but pretended they were 50? I suspect the reverse may be more common.

If I were 19, I think I'd have a hard time passing as 50 online, especially when talking about my supposed childhood back when the culture and childhood itself were so different than nowadays.
SW-User
yeah, turns out he was an idiot.
SW-User
yes. A couple. I mean, I just want to get in their pants.

Online relationships don't work 99% of the time.

Think about this" if you're really hot/popular/happy in real life then why would you bother finding a relationship online?"

I did have one but he was basically who he said he was, he just lied through his teeth. Said he lies to his wife but would never lie to me. What, am I that special? I knew he was lying I just couldn't force myself to leave.
SW-User
Yes I've had one. It was only when I found out that he'd hit on anyone that it put me right off and I broke contact. I missed talking to him for ages afterwards as he did seem like someone I could actually get to know (as friends).

Yes, found out the truth very recently on here. I'd known this person fir a long time on ep too.
@Jaclyn1012: what did he say or do
MistyStarr · F
@nevergiveup: pretend to be my 17 yo online daughter who demanded constant attention, but I'm reality was a 33 accountant
polyandrym66 · 70-79, M
@MistyStarr So sorry to hear that.. I always used a video-chat/phone before I met anyone or got serious with them.. Can't hide from the camera... But then neither can YOU...

Yes and most frustrating, doesn't take long to realise that the person is not of the gender they propose to be, makes you wonder what they are looking for
Sepia · 36-40, F
We met and know each other before it became online and broke up because we can't meet anymore..I have no idea if he told me lies while we're online

Yes I have quite recently so I ended it. I won't have another one online.
MissPriscillaPrim · 70-79, T
I used-ta-mess around with that just a little bit on chat boards, at least letting a few briefly encountered folks continue to treat me as a "sweetly proper lady" if they were trusting and oblivious to subtle hints... but I quit that silliness a long time ago. I now identify myself upfront as TV-Queer, and I enjoy chatting with folks struggling with gender issues, or with other fairy nice teehee teevees.
SW-User
No....but I found out howy mean and coward people can be.
i understand that
JellyCat · 46-50, F
@nevergiveup: I even met mine & we had a relationship for 10 months before I found out how bad he had lied.
@JellyCat: mine lied to me she said she was 50 but she was 19
JellyCat · 46-50, F
@nevergiveup: 😱
HonestAndHopeful · 46-50, F
No, not as such. Most seem to be who they say they are. They may seem a bit different in real life than you imagined them though. One used a fake pic but sent me a real one soon after chatting...but posting a fake photo was enough to make me doubt him.
Badseed · 61-69, M
@HonestAndHopeful: Personally, I have never sent an online penpal an actual photo of me until we've been corresponding for a good long while and I really trust them.

how did it turn out good or bad
sassycookie · 26-30, F
@nevergiveup: bad
Badseed · 61-69, M
I've had online "female" penpals whom I was all but certain were guys, but I didn't mind. I found corresponding with their feminine personae enjoyable, harmless fun, and I let them believe I believed them.
Nah but I'll catfish a betch so fast.....

no I wouldn't LMAO
SW-User

charlotte48 · 51-55, F
