Were you brought up in a family, where people show off all the time?

It still is. Showing off on social media can cause a backfire effect.

I think social media has made some people too competitive. Some need the feel of showing off everything.

@ragingfire: That's very true, it's gotten ridiculous. We didn't announce things to the neighborhood. It was limited within our home; a good report card posted on the fridge for example, or a special treat.

Inside family there should be encouragement and appreciation and I'm glad you got it. It's something I missed. Regarding social media I know a girl who posted her concert tickets on Facebook. It's with barcode and anyone can steal it now. I want to tell her to take it off, but knowing the way she is it won't help. @bijouxbroussard:
