Do you ever find it mildly annoying when people here who you don't recognize follow you but don't bother to send you a PM to introduce themselves?

I used to be really fussy about that too Nigel. But...I've come to understand that some people don't necessarily want to form any sort of friendship--sometimes they just want to read stories and be entertained.

More annoying to me is the person who PMs me with "hey" or "what's up" and even the occasional lengthy one that is obviously rehearsed and reused.

I think that at least a response to a post is necessary.

It is only sensible if you are going to follow someone that you *at least* throw a rock or two at their window. That's not too much to expect.

.... but some people want you to say hi first. And it is awkward.

Doesn't really bother me. :)
