I had a 30-something cancel lunch because it was her turn to pay. She said she didn't want to buy a "double lunch" today.

I work a minimum wage job and I've never pulled something so low...
Perhaps she's very tight on money right now...but even so, there are plenty of ways to spend time together without spending much money--if any at all. Perhaps it was for the best. There are better women out there worthy of taking to breakfast, lunch and dinner. :-)
