Why do people say avoiding conflict is a bad thing?

It’s better than getting into a heated argument. Conflict gives me anxiety and panic attacks. One of my friends told me that I can’t avoid conflict from an old friend and I can’t help avoiding and running away because chances are she’ll will find a way to find a way to contact me and eventually find me. She said, “Look she really wants to talk to you and she misses you so much I want to reconnect again be best friends again. Is upset that you’re ignoring her that’s all she’s trying to do is reconnect with you but you’re avoiding her and shutting her out like building a wall in front of her. Just talk to her if he gets upset because of whatever just hear her out and LISTEN. Let her talk and finish. Do you want be a coward and keep running from her fine be that way but you’re going to regret not fixing the problem because running away and avoiding conflict makes the problem bigger. Just saying. JUST TALK TO HER. She wants to rebuild the friendship but it’s up to you. Should I go out because of a little mistake she made is pretty pathetic they need to grow up! We’re almost 30 for crying out loud! But honest with YOURSELF. Are you just ‘taking a break’ from Facebook or avoiding Facebook just so you don’t have to deal with her?”

I "love" when people say "it’s up to you" yet go on and on about what you should do what THEY want you to do...

I'm merciless with "friends" that betray my trust. No do-overs, they're out of my life, period. It's not even about "avoiding conflict", I don't need bad friends in my life...
