I understand how to stop my racing thoughts, BUt how does one stop the physical effects of anxiety???

-I.e. tense muscles, raised shoulders, tingling, small breaths, wide eyes etc.

One thing that seems to help others is to have a bottle of water handy. It can help to regulate your breathing. Simple but effective.
