When Pop stars like Miley Cyrus, Beyonce and Lady Gaga perform without pants, Is it "empowering to women" or does it show a lack of personal boundarie

I've even heard it called "feminist"- but is it?
Magenta · F
Seems like a lack of good taste/dignity and a publicity stunt. It's more empowering when a woman doesn't feel the need to do that, and stands independent and empowered in her "singing" talent.
NickiHijab · F
Idk, ask Tina Turner, Diana Ross, Cher and the internalised misogyny.

How would you feel if they walked out wearing a burqa?

Still too much right?

Where's the middle line and why is it decided by everyone else except the actual women themselves?

Never saw it like that. It's simply they like it like that. Don't see any way of empowerment for that or anything to do with boundaries

i saw a user say "i can love my body and empower women without taking my clothes off" and it hit me like yeah, she's right. why does the younger generation equate being naked or dressing provocatively with body positivity?

again like you said, it more less highlights their lack of personal boundaries.
@DeluxedEdition I would agree with that user, there's so much to a person than their looks

Dressing provocatively and women empowerment is being misused a lot nowadays

@DeluxedEdition I sort of see their point. Older men have told them to cover their bodies, which they interpret as shaming them for what they've got.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@LordShadowfire that actually makes a lot of sense. thanks for the input😏
glad you talked about it, that's NOT empowering women.
Magenta · F
@mysteryespresso Not in the least.

Show more skin !! That's better!!

um can you show less skin, sweetie ? it's too much

women are always so damned if they do and damned if they don't.
I've been singing without pants as I work at home during the pandemic. I guess I am a feminist, too!
@BiasForAction best answer

Its whatever they want it to be, personal decisions are personal.
They could wear a scuba suit while performing if they like.
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@Stopmakingsense There is your answer, its Art and they present it however they choose.
If seeing a woman without pants on offends some then I guess they wouldn't be at the show or wouldn't buy their music...its all a choice.

@FreeSpirit1 yeah without pants or with a bikini 👙 😂 they make a big deal about something that's not important
Stopmakingsense · 56-60, F
@SW-User you can have the right to see no meaning in everything that people say and do! I'm sure you can't really pull it off. You just won't go there. I grew up under not going there people. No meaning too obvious to admit to!
Adstar · 56-60, M
Well according to feminazi ideology woman can do anything with their bodies and in acting like these woman they are showing how empowered and independant of them patriach's they are..

Of course i am not a supporter of feminazism..

@Adstar Your master died of cancer last year, you can stop using words he invented.
Adstar · 56-60, M
@LordShadowfire I have absolutely no idea who you are talking about..
It's trying too hard to be "edgy" and not realizing we live in a society when this may shock for an hour or two, but then we will all go right back to tweeting political insults while watching cat memes on Facebook
SW-User
@PrivateHell people should look at themselves and their lives instead of caring about what others wear
@SW-User truth my friend

They’re just going for the shock value and sex appeal that Cher did 32 years ago. Sex sells and if they claim anything else they’re lying.
KuroNeko · 41-45, F
I think women have been performing in very little for a long time now. There are worse things happening.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
You realize women were performing like that when you were young right?
Stopmakingsense · 56-60, F
@CountScrofula no not outside of brothels. Not in the sixties.
FreestyleArt · 31-35, M
I don't even see them as humans or convient.

Just plastic Waste from China
nedkelly · 61-69, M
Shows they have NO CLASS at all

SEX SELLS even without talent
@nedkelly Miley Cyrus said it takes alot of talent riding wrecking balls😉
nedkelly · 61-69, M
@ExperienceDLT [image deleted]
@nedkelly they might have done it first but we have to agree they didn't grind that ball nothin like Miley
DragonFruit · 61-69, M
It's a bit of each.
LordShadowfire · 46-50
It's tasteless. When a song called W.A.P. (Google what it stands for, I won't tell you) is a feminist anthem, true feminism is dead.
