(Death of Cthulhu)

What is a guilty music pleasure you have?

For me (as a metal head) it’s The Offspring.

JohnnyBliss · 56-60, M
Well, I constantly listen to the Grateful Dead.

But I love "The Ting Tings"

NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@JohnnyBliss What's to feel guilty about? I like that Ting Tings one and I like the Grateful Dead as well.
Deadish · 31-35, M
@JohnnyBliss it’s quite catchy. Thanks for sharing

Currently enjoying the Steven Universe soundtrack with my kid
@SW-User Those are some surprisingly awesome songs ! I loved that cartoon.
SW-User
@bijouxbroussard It's really good
Deadish · 31-35, M
@SW-User never heard of the cartoon but independent song seems to have a positive message
G00GLE · 22-25, M
Ah feeling guilty pleasure about music is dumb imo
G00GLE · 22-25, M
@NankerPhelge heeey I call things "stupid" and "shit" as well
Deadish · 31-35, M
@G00GLE yah I’m right there with ya.
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@G00GLE I reserve those terms for punk.
KidAzazel · 26-30
I'm not guilty about any of it. I just enjoy music my man 🤙
Deadish · 31-35, M
@KidAzazel and that’s how it should be my dude 🙂
Bad4U · 22-25, F
the offspring are amazing... songs like "the kids arent alright" are awesome
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@Deadish No, that's just an expression my dad used to say whenever I changed the subject or otherwise said something irrelevant. It's more sarcastic than grumpy.
Deadish · 31-35, M
@NankerPhelge boomers gonna boom
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@Deadish Now what are you talking about?
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
Why should I feel guilty about liking any particular music? I can see why you feel guilty about liking that Def Leppard rip-off, but that was only one Offspring song and I wouldn't judge the whole band by that.
Deadish · 31-35, M
@NankerPhelge idk why should you? I’m sure most bands have “ripped off” many other artists. Or perhaps they were influenced
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@Deadish There is a slight difference between being influenced by other music and actually taking a snippet from another band's recording to put in their own.
SammyJo · 51-55, F
Hmmmmm...hard to say, really. I'm a rock chick - totally into Def Leppard, KISS, Bon Jovi (when they were good), Motley Crue (ditto), Dan Reed Network, Iron Maiden, Journey etc - and my girl loves Madonna, The Human League, Duran Duran and those early 80's bands and artists... I tend to have a look of sheer boredom on my face but she knows that the Duranies 'Rio' album is one of my very favs and I enjoy early Madonna...

She knows....

SJD xx
Deadish · 31-35, M
@SammyJo I got see Maiden the year before. Funny story behind that, I managed to avoid nose bleed tickets by sitting in a handicap seat 😁
SammyJo · 51-55, F
@Deadish And, I guess, not disabled?!? How did you do that?

SJD x
Deadish · 31-35, M
@SammyJo no I am not haha. I sat down in those seats during the opening band. No one asked me to move during the show until the people who paid for the tickets showed up for their spot and then I just moved over to the next seat lol

@MougyWolff covers can be hard man. I’ve worked on learning parts of songs here and there but to learn a whole one can take some dedication.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
I like Russian rap music!
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@GerOttman You mean Яap?
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
Bad music; intentionally bad. Example: Jonathan and Darlene Edwards in Paris, an album from the late 1950s. There are also a few websites devoted to bad music. It makes me laugh.
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
@NankerPhelge Actually, "Darlene Edwards" is in reality Jo Stafford, I forget who Jonathan Edwards really is. But they are both famous and very good singers pretending to be off-key avant-garde singers singing songs about Paris.
Deadish · 31-35, M
@greenmountaingal I’m not surprised that’s a thing lol. I went through a alt grunge phase and found my fair share of that lol

Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
The same type of music as you but more metal lol like killswitch engage, ffdp, Metallica, slipknot etc
Deadish · 31-35, M
@Beatbox34 yah slipknot is one of mine as welll but their last album was pretty good in my opinion
thepropulsivepanda · 31-35, M
Aaand now I've got Living In Chaos stuck in my head. 😂
Deadish · 31-35, M
@thepropulsivepanda I think I may have heard this song once before but I am really digging it right now. Thank you!
thepropulsivepanda · 31-35, M
@Deadish For sure! The Offspring have always been one of those bands on the outskirts of my awareness but they definitely have a few songs that I really enjoy and that is one of them. :3
Deadish · 31-35, M
@thepropulsivepanda honestly what brought me back into awareness of them was them randomly coming on the radio while I was having some beers with a close friend. I listened to them when I was an early teenager a lot. So nostalgic!
SW-User
Same. Especially their first stuff. :)
Deadish · 31-35, M
@SW-User the only white boy band I know that got away with dropping the n bomb lol
SW-User
@Deadish I'd turn the song way down. I hate that word.
But the song was true.
Deadish · 31-35, M
@SW-User hate is what inspired that word. Indeed it is and it’s a shame 😕
Diesel95 · 36-40, MVIP
Admittedly so I love David Hassellhoff
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@Diesel95 He's an actor.
Ingwe · F
throat singing
Deadish · 31-35, M
@Ingwe like
The Mongolian stuff? I found a band that incorporated that
SW-User

Libera. Not that I really feel guilty about it—I always loved choral music. But their voices are so perfect !

Deadish · 31-35, M
@bijouxbroussard I’ve never heard of this style of music. It seems very soothing though!
