Why do people keep telling me to use my common sense?

My dad kept telling me over and over again, “You gotta have some common feelings. The problem with you is that you don’t always use it and you need to start using it as I’ve old you in the past. Welcome to adult life. You’re not a kid anymore.”
He keeps putting that in my head on purpose.
Even my best friends called me out for not using my common sense. One of them said, “Girl where’s your common sense?! We wouldn’t have gotten lost or got into this mess if YOU would have used your common sense.”
My other best friend said, “We outta knock some common sense into your head!”
