Something happens and you wake up tomorrow morning 150 years into the future.

You don't know anyone. You definitly don't have the knowledge to run the technology of the day. The money and credit cards in your pocket are no longer any good. What do you do? How do you eat? Get by?

Hopefully the Amish are still here and farming. I’d try to meet up with them & tell them the situation & see if they’d have compassion on me & let me work doing whatever I could for room & board.

@cherokeepatti Great idea! I would be good with that too!🤗

@Oster1 The Amish immigrated here in the 1700’s and they haven’t changed much since then. I don’t know how much change they would tolerate 150 years into the future. At least I could get started somewhere that I was comfortable.

@Oster1 @cherokeepatti I so much agree. I have often thought about living with the Amish for a year, just for enrichment and learning. I have much respect for them too.🤗

@UnderLockDown There is a group in the USA that is faith-based and they are communal farmers. Nobody is married & everything is shared, the profits of the farm is split equally. Whenever people join up into the group they give everything they have to it and it’s used for the farm. Meals are cooked in large kitchens and everyone dines together. And anyone can leave whenever they want to if they feel it’s not working out or it’s time to leave. I forgot the name of it but it’s a very old group.
@cherokeepatti that could be interesting!! Even if just for a year or two.

@UnderLockDown I wish I could remember the name of it, have read a couple of articles about it. It didn’t seem like any type of cult. They are a sharing farm community. Mostly the men work together on their chores and the women work together on theirs.

@UnderLockDown Hutterites, similar to Amish. They have colonies in the northern USA and Canada. They can be married & have children. But everything they earn is shared evenly among all members. And each group is considered a colony.
@cherokeepatti Hey, it's a trim party for corn!😆

@UnderLockDown does not appear to be a stressful way of life
@cherokeepatti It would be cool with me. I could muck out stalls and wrench on things and be quite happy. I might miss the internet though.😊

@cherokeepatti I think I would love to try try that too. I don’t need too, just for the experience. We have something real close to me called Light Morning. It is exactly as you describe and I have been there, had meals and got to know the leadership and other members. They have an extremely beautiful place and farm. It would blow you away but mind you, these folks have lived there for decades and most are trust fund recipients from the North but I respect them so much for what they have accomplished. I have been there many times and always had a great time. There gardens were out of a magazine beautiful. There housing and main facilities are second to none. All off grid. I could tell you so much more!!!😊
