not all tattoos are a sign of mental turmoil or desperation, but yes some people do get tattoos to help them find peace with what happened and some other things
I wouldn't go so far as to say it was a sign of mental turmoil or distress, because I know of quite a few who have had celebratory tattoos. However, I have known more than a few who regret tattoos that have been very prominent and somewhat garish. Anyone who has one where only other people can see them is surely intending to make a permanent statement. Most of us don't want to say things in the same way when we are over 60 as we did when we were 20 so I'm glad I have never wanted one.
As someone who a few theres meaning in the ink one is for my daughter who is a happy 2 year old but had a very difficult beginning in life being born prematurely and the other is a memorial to a man greater than myself. If there’s a story behind the ink no it’s something special. If it’s done because you can eh maybe
@Dan193 Nana. My favorite character Nana Osaki had a lotus flower tattooed on her upper arm. I remember seeing it when I was about 13 and that anime later influenced my whole interest in punk music and later music/fashion choices, and introducing to me to a couple of my now all time favorite singers (Olivia Lufkin and Anna Tsuchiya). So it’s important to me because it’s like a token of my own history.
@Dan193 a lot of health professionals believe that tattoos are a good form of therapy, especially if one suffers with a severe mental illness, depression,bipolar borderline personality disorder, self harm. Anxiety. It can help them cope without hurting themselves.
