Ray Clemence has died

BBC News is reporting the death of former Liverpool; Tottenham and England Goalkeeper Ray Clemence.
He had cancer.
He was 72

He was a fantastic goalkeeper, in the 70's and 80's. Alongside Peter Shilton, the best......for the national side.

Liverpool were the team to beat in the 70's...

As a very young Wednesday supporter, I could only look in awe at the quality that they had in their team....wishing they would play for us...and Ray was the cornerstone in that team.

A huge loss for football. A big space to fill in the England goal...something that I don't feel has ever been filled since....and we've had some pretty decent goalkeepers....

@SammyJo Certainly a great player of his generation and as you say, key in that Liverpool side of the 80’s.

I met him once as he was awarding prizes for my son’s football team some years ago.
Really nice genuine guy !

Didn’t the England team rotate him and Shiton because they couldn’t really pick who was the best keeper ?
