I dont understand why more people dont meditate.

Alot of peoples problems can be solved by sitting there and doing basically nothing. Once your realize you are not your thoughts, your not consumed by emotions and can control your dam self.

@RightSaidFred yes. I think of it as piloting my body like its a machine. Its helps with the disconnect when your meditating and i take really good care of it because i want it to perform efficiently.

i've only recently made it a consistent habit. when i was younger I'd try on and off but it was always too difficult and i got frustrated, now i know it's just part of the process.

@revenant sit or lay somewhere comfortable. Breathe in a rhythm. Usually like breathe in for 6 seconds hold for 4 breathe out for 6 hold for 4. Relax on the exhale. As your thoughts come and go, observe them and let them go. Dont act on them or think. Just let them flow through you. This centeres yourself so your not caught up in your own mind. Acting on pent up emotions leads to stress.

@revenant it just takes practice because its not a part of our society at this time and age so we weren't brought up with this knowledge. Its like an exercise. It takes time. Just try 15min a day or week or what ever. It will feel better eventually

@eMortal it doesnt have to be made quite. Just go deeper within yourself and disconnext yourself from your thoughts. You dont have to act on every thought as you live your life. Meditation makes it easier to think before you act.
