Getting Hit Hard By Weather

Living in San Diego has it's perks. It's a gorgeous, though over priced beach city, but people tend to forget that it's also a desert city. That the lovely palm trees are transplants and not indigenous to this area. That you can find huge areas in canyons and the hills covered in brush and cacti. With that being said...we are getting hit by Santa Ana winds right now or what we like to call the devil's breath.

It got up to 101°F (38.3C) today where I live and at this very moment, it's 3:00 am and it's 91°F (32.8°C) and this is with doors and windows open and fans going. Not going to run AC, because we tend to get brown outs when that's done. Besides, I'm still a yung'un and can't really complain, much. :D

But, for those that may notice my absence, not many will but some might. Know it's because it's Dante's Inferno where I am and I might not have the energy or mental awareness to come on and bother some of you.

This isn't anything new to us, we get them often enough. For those that have never experienced a Santa Ana, just think of putting your oven on to about 500, put a fan in the back and then sit in front of the open door and you wonder why we get so many fires out here. lol

Anyway, thinking of and wishing you all the best to any reading this. 🤗

The rains are here at last in Oregon.🌧️😏☔ I used to live in CA and had friends in San Diego, it's been a long time for me going back there. I never realized the Palm trees were transplants?!😯🌴I miss seeing them. WOW! Hope the weather has changed since you wrote this.

@Peaches Thank you and yes it's finally changed...well a few weeks ago it started to change. But finally having to wear something other than shorts. :) It's still odd, some days it's hot, other days chilly...for this area that is. But it'll start getting cooler more often I'm sure.

I'll have to try and get out and take some pics of the palm trees for you. They are something you get so use to.

@MrPerditus1 Nice San Diego mission beach and pb have great bon fires! So much fun!no wonder properties are $750000 average but I prefer colder climate and rain and snow! 😆Weird for sure!

@MrPerditus1 I really enjoyed old town too, casa de pico a few years ago!

@Carazaa Yeah, cost of living here is crazy, but it's got so much to offer. As for cold climates? I like them better now as well.

We use to throw the bonfire parties after skate nights at Palisade Gardens Roller Rink or just any time really. Do miss them. Casa de Pico was and is still one of my favorite places, though it's moved to Grossmont Center, still has amazing food and drinks.

I use to work at Hamel's in MB, which is still there as well as the roller rink mentioned before. All that changed when I joined the Army though. When I came back, end up working at Aquarius Roll-A-Rena. Ah the great times.

But, Mission Beach, PB and OB were my major hangouts in my teens to early adult years.

I lived in Imperial Beach many years ago. It was always sunny but I missed living in Wa so moved back. Enjoyed the zoo and other fun stuff to do there though.

@Flutterby04 No doubt about it. I lived in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and loved every moment of it. Even getting snowed in.

@Flutterby04 where is this?
Iwillwait · M
Your weather has changed so much I the last 20 years. I hope you stay cool and hydrated.
MrPerditus1 · 61-69, M
@Iwillwait It really has, but most times we're not hit by the Santa Ana winds. Those are what really makes things worse. It's suppose to be cooling off this weekend.

Thank you, keeping hydrated at least. :D
Last time I checked it was 73 F at (roughly) 4 am?
Sunny and 90 F today.

@splishsplash I don't doubt it. Temps are different from all over the San Diego area. It's one temp around Mission Beach, while another downtown as well as City Heights, El Cajon and Lakeside areas are usually different from the others.

I'm going by the thermometers inside my house and on the back deck.
