How do you feel about guns? I am not a gun person and I don't really understand the crazy, fucked up gun culture here in America but....

I respect citizens right to bear arms.

This is some funny shit. 😋

There was a crazed killer on the loose in Oklahoma for the past week and everyone who had a gun had it loaded and was watching for him. He was shot and killed last night after shooting another law officer and then getting into another shootout with police. I think we need guns for self-defense and this guy was a criminal and had them illegally. If you make it illegal for citizens to have guns then the criminals will take over.

@twistermind: We have to take action because the police can't be everywhere and it takes time when you call them for them to arrive especially in rural areas. The news reported a landowner found the car that had been stolen in Sayre hidden under a brushy area near the Washita River, he took a photo of the car and called the police, Vance jumped into the car and took off in it. Sheriffs went to the place to investigate and found a campsite and bloody rags discarded. (Vance had been shot twice in the chest in a police shootout a week earlier)....So the manhunt concentrated on the area and they were looking for the silver Mitsubishi. A few hours later a highway patrol officer noticed a truck being driven down the road and it was dragging a chain from the back of it creating a lot of sparks along the road...he attempted to pull him over and that's when another gun battle started, Vance was shooting out of the back window of the truck as he was driving and he injured the officer. Then he was shot & killed some time later by 4 officers. Three other people were injured or killed by this man during the most recent crime spree, he murdered two of his family members too. This was a situation where many more lives could have been lost due to this one homicidal maniac.

So true Patti! If they take guns away from law abiding citizens, all the "gang bangers" and other outlaws will for sure have them! 🔫 😱

@sweetpea: The career criminals can always find a way to get weapons, he was a convicted felon and had pending charges on him and he found a way to get them, it's too bad the three citizens (that are not law officers) that he shot didn't have a weapon to defend themselves....one of them might have stopped his crime spree.

Guns are no different that any other object that can be used as weapon, they are just very effective at performing what they are designed to do. The problem isn't guns, it is people.

Evil and sick people kill and harm others using just about any object you can image. Unless we want to live in a world made of Nerf, there will be danger from a small number of criminal or insane people.

Guns give anyone, the ability to deal with a threat against their life or others' lives. It also prevents tyranny as if a substantial portion of the population is armed, the government will not infringe on speech, and other rights.

Like everything else they can be misused. But that doesn't mean they are bad.

I wonder how you feel about six-year-old kids who find their dads gun and accidentally kill their sister with it. Oh wait, that doesn't happen according to the NRA.
sunrisehawk · 61-69, M
@NigelDoes: So I take it you believe that anytime something tragic happens, we ban the object that inflict the tragedy rather than punish the offender who caused it? It does really happen, kids get in cars and put them in gear, they swing baseball bats and accidentally hit their little sisters, people accidentally get shot. I am so sorry that this isn't a perfectly safe world. I am not excusing anyone or anything, just reflecting on the real world.

I'm not gonna get into this bullshit with you dude. Have fun with your vast gun collection.

Well I'm from the south and we like our guns. One is good enough for me. We grew up hunting and never killed anything we didn't eat. No, I've never used ear plugs while shooting. 😱
NigelDoes · 56-60, M
I am safe and I don't need a gun to make me feel safe.
Peaches · F
@NigelDoes: I do.
NigelDoes · 56-60, M
Whatever floats your boat.

I do understand some Americans embrace their right to protect themselves through weapons. It's very ingrain in the culture. But I wonder up to what point this need is real or created by dark interests. I don't know up to what point paranoia has been created in some Americans minds.
NigelDoes · 56-60, M
Don't ask me. I grew up here and I walk the supposedly dangerous Los Angeles streets nearly every night and have no problems. I can't imagine why some cunt in Bumfuck, Arkansas feels the need to have a gun for home protection. Crazy country we live in.
twistermind · 51-55, F
The most dangerous weapon I take in my bad is a hairspray. I use it when I go into a parking at night.
But, to be honest I'm not the right person to talk about weapons because my country is one of less criminal cases.
I hate guns, but I think we should have them but there's no need for automatic weapons on civilians. Tf are you hunting with that shit.
NigelDoes · 56-60, M
