What do you do with news that is startling to you?

Confirm i heard right

My first reaction is usually skepticism. I don't flat out deny anything, I just consider different alternatives. Then I do the necessary follow through to make sure I heard correctly. I guess after that point I simply accept it

It’s rare for me learn about any news that I care enough to become startled by. But when it happens, I try to maintain composure and handle it calmly.

I try to read all that I can about it, or try to see it from all sides. Just really try to understand.

Usually go quiet and process it.
