Dear community. LISTEN UP!

This needs to be said. I just watched a gentlemen get screamed at by another customer, so bad that security was needed when he didn't wear a mask in the store. As I walked to my car I saw the maskless guy again.... In his car about hyperventilating using an inhailed. I personally and many others had a hand held over my mouth to muffle my cry's for help, and tape put on my face, I go into full blown attacks with one on, and I've gotten looks and comments because I'm going and healthy so there is "no reason I can't" .... You DO NOT know what the heck other people have been through or what conditions they have. If you are scared keep your six feet, hell walk further around if need be but do not come after people who aren't wearing one. Thank you for attending my TED talk.

Nice trolling job. 🙄

While I'd never yell at anyone for not wearing a mask, if someone's breathing is really impaired by wearing one, they shouldn't put themselves and others at risk by going into stores. All stores have now made accomodations for people with health issues allowing them to place an order from home and pick up their items in a designated area. Most will put the items in your trunk for you so you stay safe. So, there's no reason to create drama here or in a public setting just to make a political statement.

Stores have a right to set their own rules & policies. All of us need to recognize that we have a responsibility to each other as a community. This is a neighbor helping neighbor situation until this virus is under control. It's called common courtesy. It has nothing to do with anyone's personal rights being violated. Please get off your soapbox. I don't believe a word of your story.

@Rosiechick13
and you know this guy isn't just getting out to get out of his head for the first time in months to not commit suicide how?
And you choose to create a doomsday scenario for this figment of your imagination because you feel personally imposed upon?

We can play "what ifs" all day long Karen if I had the time.
Rosiechick13 · 26-30, F
@SW-User yes the one living her life not starting anything is the Karen not the one blowing his top on someone who's living their life 😂 ok.... Absolutely I'll be the one to point that out. If you cannot prove he isn't then don't judge
SW-User
@Rosiechick13 Who's blowing their top? lol. You can't prove "he" is, so stop creating false scenarios. It's childish.
Doomflower · 36-40, M
Bullshit. The distance is a minimum of 6 ft. Also, 99% of the time the non mask wearer is making a political statement and/or is a selfish asshole. IMHO even if he has a condition he is a selfish asshole. We all make sacrifices and it's a big middle finger to everyone around you if you won't at least wear the mask.

If you're so delicate you can't wear one you are in the super high risk group and need to do things like:

Wear a face shield instead of a mask because it's better than nothing. At the very least it helps in droplet precautions.

Go shopping during hours designated for people who are vulnerable to the pandemic.

Have groceries delivered either by app or by friend. Or use curbside pick up which is usually free.

It is because of people who do not wear masks or take extra measures to be safe that the pandemic is not getting better. I have to dress like a goddamned beekeeper to do any patient care because of that naked faced dude. When I see someone without a mask I blame them and mourn not becoming an expat before it was too late.
Doomflower · 36-40, M
@Rosiechick13 I suggested several ways people who are unable can be safe and cope.

The ADA says we have to make reasonable accommodations. As I pointed out many stores and pharmacies have designated shopping hours. There are delivery services and curbside pick up. Lots of ways that someone who can't/won't wear a mask can cope.
Rosiechick13 · 26-30, F
@Doomflower my confusion with the shopping hrs thing is aren't you still spreading stuff. Also people with masks aren't thinking. Watched someone yesterday move their mask to itch their nose then touch the cart and what they put in it..... I keep 6 feet and use either my shirt or keep a mask on my chin to briefly cover when someone has to get closer than 6 ft.
Doomflower · 36-40, M
@Rosiechick13 the idea is that the most vulnerable shoppers get a chance to shop when the store is at its least infectious.

Yeah a lot of people have poor mask discipline. I always carry hand sanitizer for when I thoughtlessly touch my mask or have to adjust it.

I use lotion but my hands are getting cracked and dry. Some days I don't go out at all and only wash my hands before eating and after a poo just to give them a rest
RoxClymer · 41-45, M
sexual assault is the cards you have been dealt.

I was born with Spina bifida, currently my kidneys have failed, now on dialysis, and in the past 10 yrs drs/hospitals have almost killed me 4 times, including 2 medically-induced comas

I am in the 'high risk' part of the population

wearing a mask isn't only about you catching it, it's also about you passing it on

most of us are doing everything we can, remember there is always someone worse off.

also, what would happen to you mentally, if someone close to you caught Covid, and they traced it back to you ?
EuphoricTurtle · 41-45, M
@Rosiechick13 I guiess this was all just a big misunderstanding. All you have to do is scroll down and get to the part about wearing a mask. That is, of course, if you're honestly interested in following the CDC guidelines.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/prevention.html
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@EuphoricTurtle the problem is however that people have gotten it into their heads that wearing a mask is an alternative to hygiene...oblivious to the fact that most germs/viruses are spread through physical contact...

in other words, were people to learn how to bathe and wash their hands... this would be a non-issue...
EuphoricTurtle · 41-45, M
@wildbill83 all this is avoided by following the CDC guidelines. All of them, NO exceptions. this isn't a menu.
1. Social Distance
2. Washing your hands
3. Wearing a Mask
4. Disinfecting surfaces
5. Monitoring your health

I feel for anyone who physically can't breathe with a mask on, but I also feel for the people dying of COVID-19. It almost took my friend's life, might have made an attempt on my uncle's. 😔 Obviously there's a balancing act in society and yelling at someone from the get-go is too much. But mask policies must be enforced if you care for the immune-suppressed, and the only way to work this out effectively is to make it the duty of those poor souls with respiratory conditions to identify themselves. It's not fair, but it is necessary, unfortunately.

I say this as someone with asthma, myself. Don't let some people die for the mere convenience of others.
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
@Rosiechick13 if you don’t wear a mask, Kroger won’t let you shop.

So, your choice troll.

Do what you want and keep your germs to yourself.
Rosiechick13 · 26-30, F
@JoeyFoxx that's weird you might want to tell my Kroger that because I've been in it four times five times in the past five weeks. also Walmart because our Walmart is still letting people in. If you say I have a medical condition they will not go any further
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
@Rosiechick13 if you’re local stores aren’t enforcing mask wearing, then don’t be surprised when there’s an outbreak in your community.

But seriously, you’re likely not telling the whole truth.

Because .... troll.

@LeopoldBloom I'm just amazed how manny things make dicks seperate from the human body. 😅
Elessar · 26-30, M
If they have a respiratory condition so severe that they can't wear a piece of cloth in front of their mouth (not even with allergic asthma and rhinitis in pollen season I had a problem wearing a mask.. for hours), the f*ck are they doing in a public place without even at least a face shield or an exemption badge? Amid a pandemic caused by a respiratory virus (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome CoronaVirus, 2), seriously?

These people 99/100 are perfectly fine and just need an excuse to "rebel".

Rosiechick13 · 26-30, F
@Elessar food, drs appointments, going into the phone carriers office, post office, DMV, physical therapy, counseling sessions.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Rosiechick13
- Food can be bought online and/or delivered, so it's a non problem;
- Phone carriers office for what? Is it essential right now? You can't have a friend, a relative or a volunteer going there for you?
- Same about the post-office.
- DMV is?
- Therapy and counseling if cannot be delayed, can be done in a safe setting (individual session and personnel wearing K95 and eyeshield, like they do in every other healthcare field)
Rosiechick13 · 26-30, F
@Elessar I'm yes when my phone wasn't working I had no option. And no having someone else go isn't always an option for mail. DMV is department of motor vehicles (tag ran out) . Therapy is one on one. PT isn't but is limited to two therapists and 2 patients.
The virus is a very real issue and standing 6 feet won’t stop him from infecting surfaces people may come in contact with. It’s terrible he has those issues but those cases can’t take priority over a global pandemic.
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
If you don't like masks you're gonna hate ventilators!
Believe me 🤷‍♀️
@Rosiechick13 That's your choice as an adult. But I am sure they try to wean you off the vents as soon as possible.
Rosiechick13 · 26-30, F
@Harriet03 good for you so is my sister
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
People that have a legitimate reason to not wear a mask (like the guy you mentioned to has asthma) probably shouldn’t be in a public setting and should have someone do shopping for them.

But if that’s not possible, get a plastic face shield.

Badges are nice, but folks have been forging them. Right now, society isn’t comprised of people who trust one another.

There are zero legitimate reasons today to be around other people without some kind of covering.

Zero.
Rosiechick13 · 26-30, F
@JoeyFoxx you literally said wear a badge. I'm not wearing a badge telling people that I'm disabled.
Rosiechick13 · 26-30, F
@JoeyFoxx my aim is more to get people to understand that sometimes these things can't be helped and people need to get over themselves
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
@Rosiechick13 your aim is to be a troll.

Nothing more.

Nothing less.
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
Wear a badge.
People do here if they are medically exempt!

when this nonsense is all over, I hope people with Asthma, Dyspnea, and other breathing problems sue the shit out of these businesses, employees, etc. heckling them over not wearing a mask... 🤔

I'd love to see wal-mart forking over a few hundred million in a class action lawsuit against them...
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@Rayinman or how about "no idiots allowed"? then if you come in, I can have security bounce you out on your ass... 🤔

I find that people tend to ignore my not wearing a mask when I'm wearing a sidearm... 🤔
Rosiechick13 · 26-30, F
@wildbill83 I do that too but I'm in an open Carry state so no one cares 😂
I'd extend this to people who don't want to wear one due to it being the mark of the beast as well. Plus masks carry their own health risks, probably more than this flu bug.
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
@Rayinman [image deleted]
Rosiechick13 · 26-30, F
@Stargazer89 that too. But it's more than a flu but still numbers are skewed
@Rosiechick13 I'm still skeptical of it all. Sure, there may be a virus, but I wouldn't be surprised that doctors are using this as an opportunity to fatten their already huge paychecks. Idk how anyone trusts them
SW-User
👍️👍️ If the mask bullies are wearing their mask why they so indignant and scared if someone else ain't. Aren't they protected by theirs? 😒
actually it's to protect them from you not the other way around
In that case, the pro-maskers should be forced to have a plastic bag put over their heads and duct taped to their neck to prevent them from spreading their stupid... 🤣

In Massachusetts, our governor has mandated wearing masks, but has also told people they may not shame those who do not wear them, because there are some who can not breathe inside a mask.

Some stores, (such as grocery stores), mandate the wearing of masks so that if you enter, you are guaranteed that other customers who might cough or sneeze can not do so all over the food. A powerful sneeze from an infected person can send spray up to 13 feet away.

I have found I can breathe inside a two layer cotton mask, but can't breathe inside paper masks.
4meAndyou · F
@Rayinman I obey the rules mandated by our governor. I always wear a mask in public. If you have some sort of personal problem with the rules mandated by the governor of Massachusetts, I suggest you address them to him directly.

Poor guy. I mean I get that, but I enforce the mask rule at work because we'll be fined or shut down if we don't. I'm going to defend my coworkers' jobs. I don't scream at people who aren't wearing a mask, though. I just say my reminder and that's it. Doesn't need to go as far as making someone break down. :(
Rosiechick13 · 26-30, F
@SW-User besides the fact that it cannot be forced you will not be shit down if you say so and so has a medical condition
SW-User
@Rosiechick13 No one's brought up medical conditions at all even though some of them looked to me like they would be better off without the masks.
But there are places that shut down over this. I don't know if it was officially shut down or because they were on some list and lost all their customers, but whatever the case, being out of business is a problem.
SW-User
@Rosiechick13 But like I said, I wouldn't never scream at someone like that over it. My heart hurts thinking about that guy. :(
You don’t have to go into the store. If you have a valid medical condition, they have to accommodate you by getting what you need and bringing it out to you. But you don’t get to shop without a mask.
Rosiechick13 · 26-30, F
@LeopoldBloom avoid people who don't 🤷 stay away problem solved
@Rosiechick13 The store doesn't have to let you in if you're not wearing a mask.

I swear, you people are the first to rush to the defense of a business if they don't want to serve gay people, but when it affects you, suddenly you throw a tantrum. Ever see a sign "no shirt, no shoes, no service?" This is the same thing.

I think masks are the way to go if you're in an area where cases are plentiful. Screaming at someone is unlikely to change their view on the topic though
MellyMel22 · F
[c=#BF0080]Some may def have issues, but most others likely don’t. If I can manage them- they bring on asthma attacks almost every time I wear them even short term, most people should be able to too. [/c]
MellyMel22 · F
@Rosiechick13 [c=#BF0080]If I can respect them by wearing one myself knowing what I’m in for, they likely can too. This is coming from someone who has basically the same type of attack each time I shop as the man you described only mine is due to physically wearing a mask to protect and respect others’ safety. There are other options for everyone though. [/c]
Rosiechick13 · 26-30, F
@MellyMel22 again most likely. You don't know their past that's the issue
MellyMel22 · F
@Rosiechick13 [c=#BF0080]I know you described this man as using an inhaler due to stress and I KNOW I will need one from wearing a mask most times I shop, but I still wear one. If he feels it’s life threatening he can get a note from a Dr to flash. And as I said before, there are other options for those who need them. [/c]
