Why do people have sarcastic remarks to each other or roasting each other?

The whole “roasting” and sarcastic attitude thing is obviously a joke to many, hence my comment.

@MidnightBlue My best said said being sweet and nice isn’t fun all the time and sometimes you gotta show your mean and feisty side sometimes. She said that’s probably why I’m so boring because I’m nice all the time. What’s wrong with that?

@LaylaTheTallGirl I agree, people should be nice and civilised. Insulting people is not fun. Where do you get the word "roasting" for that? It's not a word we use in that context where I live.
