HISTORY: Could a knight marry a princess back in medieval times?

LAlexV · M
I’m sure if he did something great but it probably wasn’t really common

Pretty sure they could. It would depend mostly on if the princess's family would gain some kind of political or financial advantage if she married the knight. It probably wouldn't happen often because they would be different classes of society, but I don't think it was illegal or anything.

yes, titles of nobility would be given to particular knights and they could marry royalty provided they had something to give. Being they would likely be already subject to the king and would not be able to offer a partnership beyond that, this would probably be wealth related

I read a story on the 'Badass of the week' website about a cabbage farmer who did just that. Forget his name you'll have to look him up.

i think they could, but the family probably wouldn't let it happen. they'd look for another royal family to marry into
