What is being an adult like?

Actually it's not true that as an adult you'll be able to do what you want when you want.
Everyone must obey the laws of the nation, the state, and local governance.
Also there are morals that most people will expect you to abide by.

No human living in human company is ever completely free.

Rather, we have a limited range of choices;
what we study and learn,
some relative degree of choice in the type of work we do,
where we live or rent, depending on income,
how we create the environment in our home,
what kind of transport we use,
who we relate to, providing it's mutual
what sorts of entertainment and hobbies we choose.

It might seem like a lot - but actually it's usually very limited by our circumstances.

But for every choice there are consequences - short, mid or long term -
and we need to be mindful and careful of those,
including the habits in little things because they all add up.

Don't be a Clown like so many people whom I've known they turned into Clowns they simply were given the choice and took the wrong roads and ended up in Silly Street.
