Is it ok to reset the maintenance required light on your car yourself?

I see vids on YouTube but I don't want to mess up anything.

**My car has already had an oil change and tire rotation within the last 3 months.

Apparently they did not reset the light

I don't want to waste time waiting on them to do it. If I can do it myself without messing anything else up then I'd like to

@SW-User The problem is - when you go and have a smog test - it will fail because of that light.

@SW-User yea I called to make sure that the light would come on ONLY for tire rotation and oil change. They verified that was correct and even said I could Google how to turn it off. I tried and it worked . I just didn't want to mess up anything or cause any problems

@SW-User u mentioned a bs repair bill. So I'm guessing the associates you worked with made up problems and charged?
@iamnikki Is that a question or a statement ?- On one hand it sounds like you are reading something into what was said, because I am not seeing that message. Then you stuck a question mark in there to make what looks like an accusation more like a question. -It never works.

@MarmeeMarch Not sure why it matters to you. The question/statement wasn't directed towards you
@iamnikki I know but you seem to be mad at mechanics for some reason.

@MarmeeMarch not sure where you picked up on anger. There was absolutely none there. He mentioned BS repair bills. All I wanted to know is if he saw people being taken advantage of, i.e, customers being charged for 'repairs' that weren't needed in the first place. I can understand how things can be misread and wrongly interpreted.
@iamnikki Mostly frustration and a mechanic that usually rips off women. Because they have gotten away with it for so many years. They even try it on me. One guy at a tire store told me the benefits of filling up my tires with Nitrogen instead of regular air for 10 dollars a tire. Women - and I hate to say this because it is generalizing but they will say key words like safety / and more stable. And the woman would just go - uh huh and fork over the bucks.
