U.S.A. - Should We Scrap the Whole Thing?

Maybe just start over again from scratch... Rename the states, redraw the borders, write a new constitution, build a new capitol. Everything fresh and new! Wouldn't it be nice to have that new country smell again?

@Barrelracer1 Funny thing, I remember during Vietnam people who wanted to end the war and bring the troops home were seen as "not respecting" the military. Many saw it exactly the opposite.
Eternity · 26-30, M
@Barrelracer1 I disagree with that sentiment.

That's like saying abandoning a sinking ship is disrespectful to the people who built the ship.

Or leaving a burning building is disrespectful to architects.

Sometimes it's time to bail. Dysfunction is never to be tolerated simply for the sake of honoring the people who facilitated what it use to be

Money is at the heart of most of the problems in the US. The world's richest nation attracts the world's worst predators and for the past few decades these types have seized control, enriched themselves, crafted legal loopholes to protect the ponzi schemes and shell games they've concocted to build up political dynasties and corrupted the original ideals. If America got off fiat currency and back on a gold standard, and banned career politicians and gigantic political parties, that'd solve a huge number of problems.

@plungesponge Audit the Fed! Good place to start..
plungesponge · 41-45, M
Scary thing is that it's not even Federal. Completely privately owned. Talk about a hostile takeover

I work for the US government.

I wish we could move the US capital someplace warmer and with less people. I want lower rent and less traffic, and more lovely green space.

Of course, eventually people would relocate to this new capital and it will go to shit again. Of course, the current one started out as a swamp.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@JoyfulSilence I thought they were going to drain that...
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
@GerOttman They actually did, or else covered it over.

But some parts of town flood during heavy rains. I wondered why then learned that the road is on top of an old canal which used to be an old river.

I think we should separate into 5 separate sovereign nations that just share one military.
Eternity · 26-30, M
@GerOttman you mean like Hawaii and Alaska and Puerto Rico and Guam?
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@Eternity Yeah, US Virgin Islands, Guantanemo, probably a few other scraps lying about.
Eternity · 26-30, M
@GerOttman it would be best to divvy them up amongst the 5 nations. They're too small and separated to be their own thing.

In order to keep the united nations of America from fighting I think it would be best divide the US based on the main product/economic contribution of each region.

Agriculture, industry, foreign trade, energy production, and software development.

I know that all states do all of the above but there are set regions in the US who do each thing more than the others do.

I propose we divide each into it's own nation and have them specialize to each of their own affinities and give them exclusive rights concerning the production of their contribution.

That way even though each nation is separate and sovereign they each depend on each other in order to have access to critical aspects of modern life.

That, along with having a shared military, should suffice to stop any violent infighting.

I 100% believe in TOTAL reform for the U.S.
xp47rb · M
@DearAmbellina2113 You have the freedom to leave. Not everyone in the world has that freedom. Whether anyplace else wants you is another issue.
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
@xp47rb I think it should be easier to leave your birth country and live somewhere else. Imagine how much less conflict there would be worldwide.
xp47rb · M
@DearAmbellina2113 There are malcontents everywhere. Most countries aren't real thrilled about people who don't contribute and are against their way of life. Some are pretty oppressive with such people. No one really wants them.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
no, we should just go back to the 1800's way of dealing with criminals...

lynching and firing squads...
xp47rb · M
@wildbill83 wouldn't go quite that far but sure would quit letting them off and would like to see trials, sentencing and appeals all finished within 6 months max
xp47rb · M
Constitution is fine, but what various judges have done to it is not.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@xp47rb Could use a little rewrite, clean up the flowery prose, make things a bit clearer from a contemporary point of view.
SW-User
No. We are fine.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@SW-User That was my big objection to the whole MAGA slogan. I never acknowledged we weren't in the first place. "Fine"... Hmmm.. maybe a little rough around the edges, like my hair right now, could use a fresh trim and some styling!
GerOttman · 61-69, M
Hey guys! Good to see some feedback. I'm off to work now and will check back later. Meantime, play nice, be respectful of others, and wear a mask while typing...
