Do you feel the need to have your beliefs validated by others?

curiosi · 61-69, F
It's nice, not gonna lie, but it isn't necessary.
Unlearn · 41-45, M
@Neutral are your beliefs flexible or rock solid?
SW-User
Nope, any feedback makes me question them, or look at things differently though.
Unlearn · 41-45, M
@SW-User do you welcome such feedbacks?
SW-User
@Unlearn Always welcome :)
NeuroticByNature · 41-45, F
Not really. I keep my thoughts to myself.
Unlearn · 41-45, M
@NeuroticByNature validation doesn't necessarily require discussing it with others. It could be done indirectly like by reading, listening or watching things.
NeuroticByNature · 41-45, F
@Unlearn Then no. I like to see if others think the same thing if I have an idea about something. Thats helps to solidify my thoughts.
walabby · 61-69, M
No, but I'd rather knowledge than beliefs, if that were possible...
I've always gone by the conviction that if a belief system cannot stand up to questioning, examination and evaluation then it amounts to conjecture in search of validation and is not a belief system worth having. To this day I have found nothing that has altered that qualitative method of proof and I still live by its injunction.

@summersong are your beliefs so strong?
summersong · F
@Unlearn I have full confidence in what I believe and in my ability to adjust those beliefs as needed.
yfma53 · 70-79, M
Not in the least.

SW-User
@Unlearn yes

I believe what I believe in and very open to different opinions but if people belittle me over what I believe in, hope the door doesn’t hit their arse in the way out.
TiffAching · 26-30, F
I mean, part of my job depends on my coworkers and bosses agreeing that my findings and conclusions are reasonable, so kinda?
