Has anyone experienced this in their life?

I get so mad that my aunt , uncle, cousins, and most people I know never believed I had terrible anxiety and panic attacks since childhood. Now all of a sudden my aunt is saying that a lot of times she is anxious. And my uncle panics all the time. And most of my 6 cousins get anxious a lot more since they've gotten older. They act like it's something new, something that's never happened to anyone but them. Not once have they acknowledged that I've had anxiety and panic attacks my whole life. And I've got no one to back me up. So I sit there and listen to all their anxiety stories. I just want to scream, " how do you think I've felt my whole life, how do you think it would feel to be a child experiencing anxiety each and every day?" My dad who has passed, got anxious in his old age, and my brother has experienced anxiety now that's he's older. He finally acknowledges what I've been feeling my whole life. And he's apologized to me. So for that, I am happy.

So when you're very considerately listening to them. Every now & then just add a "yes, I know how you feel. It I know what that's like". They sound like they are only interested in their own stuff but it's empathetic & if they are capable of taking it on board lets them know you also suffer from the same condition. You have my respect it must be exhausting. All the best. 馃槉

Your anxiety could be hereditary. CBT is helpful for reducing anxiety.

I'm glad someone finally acknowledged your anxiety. Being disbelieved feels like rejection.

Both of my parents exhibited considerable anxiety as a I grew up. Genetics count for a lot.
