Do you feel guilty for being white?

I don’t.

But I have learned things in the last two weeks that make me ashamed for not being more aware.

I didn’t create this environment. But I have unwittingly contributed to it, primarily by my acceptance of the status quo.

There is no need for me to flog myself. I was blind and now I see.

But I will do everything in my power to help fix this.

Are you with me?

I’m absolutely with you here. I didn’t realise how much I didn’t know and I’m ashamed and a little angered at that. And I’ll do everything I can to make it right ✨
Yes, I'm with you.

I'm still trying to decide if I was willfully blind or naive.
@JoeyFoxx I would agree about the camera thing except that part of the reason what happened to George Floyd rocked many of us so hard is because what happened was not debatable.

There wasn't another explanation. Superiors and juries don't like to punish police officers if there's an out.

I can't think of another way.

About changing partners - it's easier to break the rules if you know your partner is on board.

@Mamapolo2016 I guess. But, we need to start from a place of trust. That’s where accountability starts.
@JoeyFoxx I would like that. Is it possible at this point? Doesn't behavior have to change to establish trust?
I don’t feel guilty for being white...but like you I’m ashamed that I wasn’t more aware.

My kids were floored with what they saw happening. They/I will do whatever we can to fix this.

No, I don’t feel guilty over something I had no choice in.

I have always lived my life by doing unto others as I would have them do unto me.

I fully agree with everything you said.

Yes, I have been helping. I don't feel guilty
Oh yes, I have quite often been ashamed for being white. When my DNA test results came, I was disappointed, truthfully.

@Kathburglar ok then
ThePerfectUsername · 70-79, M
@JoeyFoxx You asked it I was with you. I said Yes. Meaning that I don't feel guilty either. I do however accept that it's up to us to do things differently and that's what my "I already do" referred to.
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
@ThePerfectUsername oh. :)

I asked two questions... I should have been more specific.
ThePerfectUsername · 70-79, M
@JoeyFoxx Short attention span... I'd forgotten the first question by the time I got to the second. 😁

What environment?
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
Seriously?

@SinlessOnslaught
SinlessOnslaught · 26-30, M
@JoeyFoxx Nevermind then.
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
No. I feel guilty for my compalceny.

And yes. I am definitely with you, but you knew this.
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
@JaggedLittlePill I did indeed.

No need for guilt.

We sincerely didn’t know.

We shall overcome
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
I don't. No one should feel guilty for who they are.
