Dang. We lost 758 lives yesterday. That's insane.

That's just sad. So sad.

9,385 vs 9/11's 2,996!!! Unbelievable. And, 9/11 has haunted me for the past 8+ years! Unbelievable.

...and the 1,208 yesterday brings the total to 763,784... 😥

Who knows what the number will be by the end of this year. The possibility of a second wave when elements of lockdown are released is very real. The chance of full lockdown release before there is a vaccine is slim to none. A vaccine before 18 months will be a miracle.

People will likely need to embrace a new and unpleasant 'normal'.

@SW-User I like it better this way.
NiftyWhite · 46-50, F
Don’t worry. one day it will disappear it’s like a miracle. it just disappears:

2108 in the US died of the virus a couple days ago. That was on April 10th, a Friday.
It’s terrible it really is.. lockdown is definitely going on for at least another three weeks
ClanNaFiacaillApWythe · 51-55, M
@LittleTinks Try 3 months.
ClanNaFiacaillApWythe · 51-55, M
@LittleTinks Well there are a few states that could be opened up: the plains, Rockies, and deserts as well as Alaska as they are rural and wild and have few large settlements. The city of Denver is one exception that should stay closed as are Oklahoma City and Lincoln, Nebraska. So is Anchorage.

@MarineBob That's very sad and unfortunate. 😔
MrRoboto · 51-55, M
I’m afraid this is only the beginning, too. I think we’re in for a rough 2-3 years as far as this thing goes.
Nika2002 · 18-21, F
USA now has the highest death toll. And in 2 days it will have more cases than the next four countries combined.
Doomflower · 36-40, M
From what?

More kids starved to death yesterday.
perceptivei · 36-40, F
@Doomflower That's my point exactly though --- no one is comparing the two here. No one is upset about this and not upset about deaths from every other tragedy that occurs every day. It's the fact that this is new, and this is unexpected. Also, it is unexplained. We know starvation is a real problem. We know cancer is a real problem. We know a lot of things are real problems. But, it doesn't take away from what COVID-19 has and is causing on a daily basis. It's one more thing to add to the list of tragedies, yes. But, it's also something the average person didn't see coming.
Doomflower · 36-40, M
I didn't mean to upset anyone. I want it to be over.
@Doomflower Yes, no argument there. I found out that several people at the homeless shelter where I used to volunteer are infected now. I haven’t been since around January; in February they told all their older volunteers to stay away because of the flu.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
Actually, about a million people die every day on average from various things around the world; those who die from viruses amounts to less than 1 or 2%

just to put things in perspective...
perceptivei · 36-40, F
@wildbill83 I didn't say anything about any other illness or tragedy. I said, this virus has killed 9K+ versus 9/11's 3K. I was comparing the two.
NiftyWhite · 46-50, F
@perceptivei It’s just someone’s life, that’s all. 🙄 You know “perspective”.
Rickg · 31-35, M
Hey
It’s all under control
@Rickg of course it's under control Trump said it would be over by Easter right and he is never wrong
@ExperienceDLT blocked
KuroNeko · 41-45, F
It was over 900 here, sad that that seems to be around the average daily count right now.
perceptivei · 36-40, F
@KuroNeko Where are you?
KuroNeko · 41-45, F
@perceptivei The UK, we are nearing 10,000 now..if not already past it
perceptivei · 36-40, F
@KuroNeko Oh my goodness.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
Rigged or not this is a tragedy. But this too shall pass.
perceptivei · 36-40, F
@Zonuss Yes.
