The guy i was closin with saw someone come 1 minute before closin. We locked the door. Turn ligjts off real quick an hid in the backroom til they left

You dont come 1 min to close at a chicken place when you had all damn night to come in.

Maybe they worked all day and just wanted something to eat
This post just made me sad

@SW-User there's no 24 hour McDonald's around?
SW-User
@SW-User lmao I can't

I'm just saying maybe it's the closest place and they are taking a chance to see if it's open

Smh but you're right I'm wrong

@SW-User always two sides to the story isn't there?
Peppa · 31-35, F
I've done that once before and it's quite upsetting and embarrassing knowing you are so late. I wanted fish and chips so badly after uni. And there's a really good place near me. It's as if everything was set to go against me..
I was on a train that was severely delayed, the bus was late and it was just too far to walk.
I really felt sooo defeated especially as you could smell the lingering remnants of fish and chips with salt & vinegar...

Damn!

I didn't make a fuss though, thanked them and walked off.

@Peppa Thanks for not making a fuss, - I felt bad when I saw you walking away defeated. I wanted to yell after you that I would turn the fryer back on, but then, I really just wanted to go home.

This happens at the store I work at. We turn them away--just the way it is. People who've never been on the other side of this don't get it. Everyone is so entitled these days. 🙄

@SW-User Entitled to shop while the shop is open... How terrible.

And yes, I've worked in retail too.
SW-User
@Quizzical Entitled knowing that what they want will go past closing time and not thinking of the workers who will have to stay past the time they get paid. Obviously it's different if what they want will only take a minute. I don't know any store that only ceases any operations the second the doors close. They start shutting things down before that. There's a reason food establishments stop serving certain things after a certain time. That's why we lock the bathrooms several minutes before closing time too. We don't want someone going in there at 7:59 and taking 15 minutes.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@SW-User When folks turn up at the last minute it's not usually for a 15 minute shop, it's because they have forgotten an item and need it quickly.
Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
You dont have to turn the light out and get sneaky.lol! Just tell them your closed when they try and pull on the door.simple
I do think 1 minute to closing is too late. Just sayin
Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
@SW-User wow! Theres no way I'd stay working there.Sorry to hear it.sounds awful
SW-User
@Eddiesolds it ain't the coworkers or my boss he's cool but the damn customers need to chill
Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
@SW-User Yes they really do
Quizzical · 46-50, M
If you're open you're open.
SW-User
@Quizzical pretty much by the time my coworker walked back from Lockin the door we were closed it had turned 10pm
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
@Quizzical I hear you, but if you don't get paid over-time, by 10 to you have the oil drained and the food put away. But I understand your logic
SW-User
Those people are the worst
atlantic59 · 61-69, M
that's funny
