Do you ever intentionally repress memories?

I do especially ones I don't freaking fully understand. Like... why???

i erase some but i've found it's easier to erase them when they arise than if they'd stayed there like forever. Like brushing the plaque out of teeth.

Yes, I did as a child. Although I didn't know that I was repressing memories so I cant really say it was 'intentional'. I suffered from dissociative amnesia... I regained my full memory of the trauma when I was in my 30's.

@StarLily I didn't think repression was always intentional. I could be wrong.

Yes I do but things like certain vehicles, the looks of how people (men) might be dressed can trigger my anxiety associated with those memories.

I was hypnotised to repress some memories, I've no clue how it turned out but they should have repressed some more.

Yep .., ptsd is good about that .., then brings them up at the wrong time .
Of course I do. Probably the only reason I'm still alive.
I can't properly remember my childhood. I wiped the lot of it.

@perceptivei So what do you think of Idris Elba & Would You Do Him
perceptivei · 36-40, F
@JohnOinger Do you like him as an actor? If so, what's his best work?
JohnOinger · 41-45, M
@perceptivei Yes I do he was good in The Movie Obessed , Last Christmas and The Movie With Kate Winslet called The Mountain Between Us
perceptivei · 36-40, F
@JohnOinger I'll have to watch Obsessed. Seems interesting. I've only seen it the other way around (where the guy approaches the female), so it'll be interesting.
