Would you be angry if a store employee followed you outside to take a closeup photo of you and your car and license plate?

Ive gone to this spa biweekly for about one year and have always paid promptly including generous tip. This time I forgot my wallet and I quickly explained everything. I gave the manager my phone number and apologized. I explained that I would return within 15 min. She asked me to leave my cellphone with her which I declined to do. She reluctantly approved me to leave and said please return. And once I got in my car the paparazzi employee ran out snapping every photo that they could from every angle. When I came back within about 10 minutes to pay I told her that I would not be back again because that behavior was rude. She said sorry and literally ran away after swiping my card.

Of course. Very angry, but not necessarily surprised. On the other hand, if you’ve been a regular customer, a letter, phone call or email to whomever is making money from this spa, explaining to them exactly why they’re losing a good customer, wouldn’t be amiss.
You might also check if they’re listed in Yelp. You were treated outrageously and others should know about it.

No, I wouldn't be offended. They're just covering their own asses. I'm sure the employee would not do this, if they made enough money to visit the spa regularly. However, most estheticians have a salary that is just above minimum wage. Minimum wage is not a liveable wage. Thus, I doubt they could afford to pay your bill, if you never came back, and would not wish to risk losing their job.

If anything, it sounds like they lost a difficult customer, which really isn't a loss for them.

@REMsleep Perhaps, I do think people tend to overreact, and this just could be a case of both parties overreacting.

@SnailTeeth Ok I guess feeling offended is an overeaction in your book because thats all that I did. I won't spend my hard earned money in a place where people treat me that way and when I got back there to tell her she swiped my card and ran away. Shameful. Not respectful

@REMsleep Have you tried asking yourself what's the point in getting offended? Does being offended serve you well in your life?

That's terrible customer service. A regular BI-WEEKLY customer for almost a year??? Unbelievable. Idiots. They lost a good customer.

I think you have a right to be pissed... As you've shown, that's not the way to keep customers

Having been a member for so long I would take offence and would most likely go elsewhere.

Unless she is an undercover law enforcement agent she shouldn't be doing that.

[c=#BF0080]I wouldn’t go back either, but I prob would’ve punched the one taking pics. [/c]

Most people who forget their money don't lose their temper because a place of business didn't trust them. You ALWAYS leave something of value like your watch or your cellphone or your ring if you have to run home to get your wallet. When you refused, you probably set off all their mental alarm bells.

@4meAndyou I never lost my temper. I never yelled or raised my voice. I am also not a stranger there. How many customers spend 1600 a year somewhere and then suddenly decide to run out on a single bill. They know me. I would have glady allowed her to write down my license plate. She did not ask for it but then ran outside and took 10 pictures of me and my car. I wasn't going to leave my valuables with her. Im tired of shops acting like they are suspicious of good customers.

Poor you. You were treated like a peasant.

a repeat customer
they should've reacted differently
the one taking the photos could've just walked with you to the car

Sounds like she was embarrassed and went to tell the paparazzi employee
Rambler · M
That’s really inappropriate. I would have done what you did

I would have felt just like you. I’d never go back. Very weak customer service on their part. Curious if you normally pay with a credit card, which you might not, couldn’t they look up the number?
Are you on a membership plan?
REMsleep · 41-45, F
@wilderflower No but I go there every 2 weeks. Have paid tons of money for various services.
@REMsleep That seems like an extreme way to make sure you’re gonna pay.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
No but I would photo them back.
