Does anyone else enjoy blocking religious/racist bigots?!

katielass · F
Nooooooooo, I believe in free speech, as long as they aren't harassing me, I don't block them. That would be a demonstration of intolerance.
katielass · F
@fazer1k...Yep, you have the right to decide what YOU find acceptable but you do NOT have the right to decide for the rest of us what is acceptable. That means you have a choice. You can either ignore speech you don't like or learn to tolerate it because, and trust me on this, YOU will not win this little war on speech. You and people like you have pushed this as far as you're gonna push it. You will not win. Free speech will prevail and you can like it or lump it. I could not care less which choice you make. You're nuttier than a fruitcake.

@Katielass: My question says nothing about free speech. You are obviously upset because the question hit a nerve. Actually I prefer chocolate cake.
Rutterman · 46-50, M
@Katielass: You and I don't agree on very much, but I have to agree with you on this.
AlmightyLoad · 26-30
not my cup of tea but I think people who do mostly dont like other opinions and just label them that way to avoid having your view point challenged
fazer1k · 56-60, M
I see no need for people to attack others, sure. My viewpoint is leave them alone.
AlmightyLoad · 26-30
attacking is wrong but some do it to live in their echo chambers

I don't enjoy it, since I'd rather they just get a clue a learn how to be a decent person with empathy. That said, eventually one has to stop exposing themselves to the grinding awfulness of people being fearful and ignorant in ways that victimize others if one wants to not spiral into depression. Blocking certainly helps in that regard.

i'm black don't block
Fernie · F
if you are a racist and a bigot you'll get blocked
Aprism · F
I don't enjoy blocking, it is a necessary evil in my opinion. I block the Trump and Clinton posts because I believe they are subliminal messages from other "sources".
fazer1k · 56-60, M
Subliminal messages - interesting.
Aprism · F
@fazer1k: it is just my opinion, algorithms and wotnot. 🙂 It's easy to see if you know how.
Rutterman · 46-50, M
My usual approach is simply to ignore them, unless they start harassing me or my friends or are consistently and extraordinarily rude. Then I'll block them.
fazer1k · 56-60, M
Fair enough. This post was mainly aimed at extremists on SW attacking Muslims and promoting hatred.
Rutterman · 46-50, M
@fazer1k: I understand. Those people irritate me greatly and I certainly can understand why someone would want to block them, even though it's not something I normally choose to do.
fazer1k · 56-60, M
@Rutterman: I will admit the 'enjoy' part of the post was tongue-in-cheek and I rarely block either. I do make an exception in these cases though.
Fernie · F
It tickles me
I was under the impression that everybody enjoys blocking anybody just because they can.
fazer1k · 56-60, M
I never used to but the extremists seem to be showing up just lately...
Yes. I don't love running into them, but I've blocked a lot and discovered them in unexpected quarters since the election campaigning started.

I’m not that religious
SW-User
If that includes fundamentalist atheists: frequently. But I don't celebrate it
fazer1k · 56-60, M
I wouldn't count non-belief as fundamentalist but I take your point.
