No you'd probably require industrial style glue. But it's not appropriate for this as when you need to redecorate it will take down pretty much the wallpaper and any other layers.

@Davemcdave no adhesive would be sufficient. It needs a mechanical fastener of some sort- screws or nails- to spread the load beyond the surface of the wall.

The last time I did this I used screws. But it was plaster so I did not need a drill.
Be sure to measure and mark the hole-locations well, too. I used a rular and a pencil. You don't want to install it and then it is all crooked.

Super glue would not be the best option. Ive used thumb tacks before.
