Sounds as if you've stumbled across a sensitive snowflake. It happens. Don't give it any more thought. If they're that upset over something you said that wasn't intended to be offensive, they have issues.

It will say you're not allowed to contact this user. Bizarrely, a couple of days later, you often have that option again.

@chrisCA There are two alternative explanations, both equally plausible: either the supposedly protective blocking functionality doesn't work, or people simply decide, presumably subconsciously, a few days later that they were overly precious and reverse it. I know neither of these seems that plausible, but I have observed it on several occasions, and one or the other must be accurate.
