Have you saved someone’s life?

I may have saved the 3rd ex's life. He was very despairing when he and I first met. His mother and his entire family had lied to him his whole life, and he never knew that his step-father was not his real father, and that his last name was not his real name on any of his documents. He found out accidentally when he went to apply for his driver's license and no one could find his birth certificate or any of his records.

He had turned on his family, and believed that they had all been laughing at him behind his back. He used to get horribly drunk and moan about it. He was in a self-destructive tail-spin.

I showed him a path to correcting all of his documents so that he would have the same last name as all his half brother's and sisters, and I believe to this day that he would not have lived more than another five years if I had not shown him how to get over it.
