I'm 57 in a little while. My brother turned 60 this year. First direct blood make antecedent of ours to do so to our knowledge, at least from 1819 anyway.
Chances are if I was my parents generation or their parents I'd be dead by now.

I don鈥檛 think people were that unhealthy at that time. They mostly died of natural calamities like, flood, earthquake, famine or animal attack. Bad health is today鈥檚 lifestyle generated thing.

My father's appendix burst when he was a teen back in the 1930s. They didn't have much in the way of antibiotics back then but he recovered completely.

bloke I used to work with went to the doc with a burst appendix..who told him it was a stomach ache, he went home and lived...although he did end up in hospital
